UPDATE: this project is no longer maintained. You can download it and use it if it works on your devices, but I can’t provide any update and support anymore. I won’t provide also any security or bugfix update.
Dukto is one of my long-lived software project, it’s now at the 6th release, with many improvements over the previous versions. One of the main changes of this release is the new user interface inspired to the Metro style UI developed by Microsoft for the new releases of Windows Phone, Windows, Xbox and all the other Microsoft products. Since I like the simplicity, the essentiality of this kind of UI, I’ve decided to make a new Dukto interface for all the supported platforms.
If you don’t know Dukto, I can tell you that it’s an easy file transfer tool designed for LAN use. I use it in my everyday work to transfer files from one PC (or other device) to another, without worrying about users, permissions, operating systems, protocols, clients, servers and so on… Just start Dukto on the two PCs and transfer files and folders by dragging onto its window. That’s all.
Dukto main features are:
- Simple user interface
- No server or internet connection needed
- Zero configuration
- Clients auto-discovery
- High speed file transfer
- Multi-OS native support
- Portable version available
- Multi files and folders transfer
- Transfers log
- Send and receive text snippets (eg. useful for sending URLs)
- Open received files directly from the application
- Windows 7 taskbar integration with progress and transfer indicator
- Show your IP addresses on the IP connection page
- Full Unicode support
- Metro style UI
- Free and open source
Dukto is a free open source project, licensed under GPL. Official releases are made by me for the following platforms:
- Windows (XP or later)
- OS X (10.6.x or later)
- Linux (packaged for Ubuntu and Fedora)
- Symbian (for Nokia touch phones)
Also there are porting made by other developers, like the following:
You can find the source code on the project page http://sourceforge.net/projects/dukto/ at SourceForge.net. Dukto has also been tested and certified by Softpedia, Brothersoft and GearDownload.

a SNAP package….. oh yes, please!!
To make this great tool universal between all Linux distros. I’m surprised there is no snap OR flatpak for Dukto yet…
Advantageously replaces a Bluetooth dongle for file transfer! Maybe one day Dukto will be able to stream!
Great tool, really helpfull, but i like to give every client a custom name… Any possibilty?
How files received on Android are installed directly。
Great! At last drag & drop copying on all LAN-devices, without #$%@^Bluetooth!
How do I compile it?
I use Manjaro, which uses pacman as a package manager. I can’t find dukto in their repositories.
Will you add it or release some instructions how to compile it?
Hi, thank you !
Can we use it to send and receive SMS on PC ?

Ciao Emanuele, ottimo lavoro.
Grazie, Igor

Dukto R6 now works again with my Android Oreo on Galaxy S7, but I have little problem. When I try to select SD Card path app give me information “The selected folder appears to be read only” Any way to change this ? Please release newer updated version.
>For the purposes of porting older applications, the QtDeclarative module has been available until Qt 5.6 but has been renamed to Qt Quick 1. Applications that required Qt Quick 1 specific API (e.g. QDeclarativeView or QDeclarativeItem and the Graphics View integration) can use this module. Note that new applications should use the new Qt QML and Qt Quick modules instead.

Please port this to Qt5.6, thanks.
Hello!
is there any way through which I can prevent people from accessing private data while we are using Dukto? Because it is as if Dukto allows full access to each and every information in the computer to each and everyone with active Dukto sharing!
Per quale perverso motivo l’interfaccia Dukto Windows 10 ha i caratteri che sono grandi un terzo dei caratteri che usano tutte le altre applicazioni?
Non si potrebbero avere caratteri piu’ grandi e visibili?

A simple multi-platform file transfer application especially designed for for LAN users and which supports sending text, files or folders VERY VERY NICE
Could you please port Dukto to Android TV? When I try to use it on my Xiaomi Mi Box (Andrpid TV OS) I can’t get past the disclaimer. Please make it usable by arrow keys on remote without a mouse and add a Leanback UI icon. I’m a big fan of your app.
Thanks for creating and releasing Dukto. I recently discovered it, and it seems it could be quite useful.
Using R6 on an LG 850 phone, I’m also having the same problem as Piotr reported in December — if I pick a save location on the external SD card, Dukto reports it as read-only. Other applications have no problem writing to the same path, and Dukto can pick the external SD card on my Axios tablet without protest. I wonder if it could be a string processing problem — the LG names the external drive with a hyphenated hex number rather than calling it something like SDCard2.
It is a known problem due to the different file management permissions introduced in Android 6 or 7 (I don’t remember which of the two). If you have Magisk installed, you can just add the ExSDCard Access Enabler module; you will be then allowed to save on your MicroSD card by setting /mnt/media_rw/XXXX-XXXX (where the Xs stands for the serial code of your MicroSD card), as the default saving folder.
using the google translator
when I open the program on my pc
It tells me that there is a new update and directs me to this link http://www.msec.it/dukto/r5update.php
in which only the page appears in white in my web browser
Thanks for the response.
Magisk might be too large of an effort just to use the external card. When I have some time, I’ll look at it and see if its features are worth it for other reasons.
Up until then, I’ll have to hope a future edition of Dukto includes a solution– since other applications can write to the external card, there apparently is some way to do that.
Please contact SourceForge regarding their outdated Dukto offering. Their most current version is R5.0.1.
